Here’s a great article about Cardinal Dolan’s restoration project on St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
The project, which cost $177 million, is being managed by Structure Tone and the architect is Murphy, Burnham and Buttrick LLP. This is the largest renovation the cathedral has undergone since it was built 133 years ago. The renovation includes repair brick work, rattling windows, updating heating and plumbing, among other things.
There are 2.6 million catholics in the New York City Diocese and a big challenge with such a large scale renovation is to work around worship services, or worship around scaffolding!
