St. Louis’ Old Cathedral, down on the Mississippi river front, has recently undergone a complete restoration.  This parish was founded in 1777, although the current structure dates to 1834, and remains an active parish today serving 200 families.  It is near and dear to the hearts of Missouri Catholics; considered our “mother” church.

Back in the late 17oo’s and early 1800’s, St. Louis was largely a stopping place for travelers headed west.  For a time, the Old Cathedral was the only place for people of any faith to stop and worship.  She was the first cathedral west of the Mississippi.  Today, she stands humbly amid the hustle and bustle of downtown St. Louis; still offering a beautiful space to worship.

This is not a project full of mouth-gaping, impressive architecture or ornate, beautiful liturgical art, but more a project about loving our history and maintaining it for future generations.
