St. George’s Catholic Church in New Baden, Illinois was built in 1907. 30 years ago was the last time they had any work done on the historic church; some painting. It was time for a major overhaul! This project included such things as disassembling the pews and sending them to Ohio for refinishing, refurbishing original hardwood floors, decorative painting, and perhaps most importantly, handicap access and a sound system that includes aid for the hearing impaired. This article includes information on how they went about raising funds for the $350,000 project.
